Fit Bantams is a FREE health programme for men and women aged between 35 and 65 who want to lose weight, get fitter and lead a healthier lifestyle.
Obesity affects 40% of the UK, with coronary heart disease, cancer and COPD as just a few conditions that may be triggered as a result of obesity. Currently in Bradford, hypertension, coronary heart disease and diabetes rates are well above the national average.
In response to this, the foundation has launched Fit Bantams, a free health programme funded by the EFL over a 3-year period which aims to support individuals aged between 35 and 65 with a BMI of 28+ to lead healthier lifestyles and get into fitness.
Fit Bantams supports individuals with:
Improving eating habits by reducing portion sizes, swapping fatty and sugary foods for fruit, vegetables and high fibre foods.
Weekly exercise sessions at the club for 12 weeks and a personal pedometer-based walking programme that encourages participants to fit physical activity into their day to day life.
Regular self-monitoring of participant's weight and pedometer step counts, as well as SMART goals to make changes that can be sustained long-term.

The coaches are really friendly and put you at your ease with their pleasant manner. They are confident in what they are providing and encouraging in the nutrition and health side of things as well as the exercise side. Everything is taken at your pace, if you can’t jog, walk, if you can’t jump, step. I can’t recommend it enough, especially for people who want to learn, lose and have fun without the pressure of been watched by skinny young Lycra clad gym goers.

Coming back from 2 separate serious injuries, I was really nervous but was instantly put at ease as the coaches talked me through all my options for making the exercises a purpose fit for me. Coaches are all very friendly & knowledgeable - the classroom based part of the course is very interactive & inclusive. The exercise part of the course is excellent & wide ranging - constant encouragement from the coaches & other participants. I would highly recommend the course & it’s great being able to continue the exercise side of things when the course ends. Give it a go - you won’t be disappointed
I would recommend this programme. I lost 5kg during 12 weeks. I'm looking forward to seeing the other group members for a kick about. The coaches are also excellent leaders who made every step fun, informative and got us loving the fitness sessions.
