Bradford City FC Community Foundation's Football Development Programme was introduced in 2018 and works with players from u9s through to u23s.  The programme offers training and games as well as being a pathway to the club's Academy.  Having introduced the new u9 - u14s recently, the FDP now works with over 240 players weekly.

The FDP Aim is to create good people and develop excellent footballers through the FDP Way "Our ball, our game".

Foundation phase

Our Foundation Phase groups train and play games weekly in the Junior Premier League.  Our focus is the technical development of players as well as installing good habits indirectly through the FDP Way.

Youth Development Phase

Our u14s train weekly on a Thursday and also play in the Junior Premier League.

When the players move into our u15s and u16s we have two squads because we cater for all abilities from this age (until u16s) as it directly feeds into our ability based Scholarship and Participation Scholarships.

u15/16 Development Squad

The DS train once a week and play 2 games a month and have dedicated UEFA B level coaching staff who work in line with the FDP Syllabus.  We celebrate hard work by rewarding the best trainers from these groups with an extra session with our Elite Development Squads.

u15 / u16 Elite Development Squads

Our Elite Development Squad train twice a week, and play competitive games in the Junior Premier League weekly as well as additional ad hoc fixtures against Professional Club Academies and similar Elite Development Squads.

These are our most advanced non-academic players, who have a clear pathway into the club's Academy if they are a success.

We also have an u18 EDS, which is aimed at providing players with an opportunity of staying with the FDP if they don't educate with us and / or provide our players with a good standard of training / football on a weekend.

Football Education Phase

We have two forms of Scholarship:

u19s EDS Ability based - playing in the best standard outside the Academy system (National Football Youth League) and only against other professional football clubs, this is a programme that will continue to develop the player and assist him in his ambitions in football.

With 3/4 training sessions led by UEFA B qualified coaches and analysis and gym sessions, the scholars weekly schedule mirrors that of a professional football player.

We have strong links with semi-professional and amatuer adult clubs who we signpost our players to, so they can gain further exposure in terms of their individual development and part of their pathway.

u19s Participation - again, playing only against professional football clubs means the experience these scholars receive is very good.  They receive the same training each week and benefits like the ability based scholarships.

Football & Education

Bradford City FC Community Foundation’s Football & Education programme offers BTEC Level 2 & 3 in sport as well as A-Levels in all subjects.  We have an in-house Education Department consisting of 3 fully qualified teachers and their education is run from purpose built classrooms.

Bradford City FC Community Foundation’s Football & Education programme also offers a Degree programme with Loughborough College and the University of South Wales, offering all forms of degrees connected to sport.  At the same time as studying, like our scholarships, they will train and play with us.

It operates like a professional football club in terms of its support departments, we have an excellent range of sporting experience from school sport to Injury & Rehabilitation to Analysis teams.

The FDP has its own training base (the SBSJ Training Ground) with 2 grass pitches, a 3G training pitch, 9v9 3G pitch, gym and analysis suites (used for pre training / game meetings) and our staff work out of this base.

It provides the players with a fantastic base to train and play games at.
