PFA Community Champion
We would like to announce that we have awarded the PFA Community Champion 2020/2021 to Billy Clarke. His work in the community this season has been above and beyond and we are very grateful to him for promoting our work and helping us within the community. He will be receiving his award this week, well done Billy.
City marked Level Playing Field’s Weeks of Action campaign in March - by hosting an online coffee morning meeting.
Taking place via Zoom, the event saw club officials joined by first-team players Billy Clarke, Elliot Watt, Lee Novak and Richard O’Donnell - and members of Bradford City FC Disability Football Club.
In a 30-minute-long call, players took part in a question-and-answer session to give Bradford City Disability Football Club a clearer insight into the life of a professional footballer, and offer interaction and relief throughout the COVID-19 lockdown.
Level Playing Field’s Weeks of Action is an annual period of inspiration and celebration of good access and inclusion at sports venues, aiming to promote a positive, inclusive experience for disabled sports fans.
This event came the day after the Bantams marked the campaign around Mansfield Town’s visit, with players warming up in Level Playing Field t-shirts and Mark Trueman and Conor Sellars bearing badges on their clothing.
Throughout the holidays over Christmas, the Community Foundation were delivering around 150 meals each day to families around Bradford. On one of these days, Billy Clarke volunteered to help out for the day.
The food that we were giving out on this day was pizza and Billy along with a couple of others helped to package all of the food before it got delivered. Once the food was ready to be delivered, Billy went around the areas of BD1 and BD2 and delivered to 12 houses within these areas. In total, Billy delivered 40 meals across these 12 households.
The time taken to deliver all of these meals was around 2 hours so it was quite a lengthy afternoon. Having Billy Clarke volunteer was a massive helping hand to us and we are grateful for what he did that day.
Again we would like to take this time to thank Billy for his hard work in the community and his continued support with Bradford City FC Community Foundation.
