Bradford City F.C. Community Foundation was set up in 1988 by the PFA.  Their initial aim at that time was to promote BCFC in the community by increasing the fan base and awareness of the Club.

In 1999, ex-professional footballer, Ian Ormondroyd, was asked by the Club to lead and grow the Foundation. Ian is a former Bradford City player, who began his professional career at Valley Parade before going on to play for various clubs at all levels of the English League, with spells at top level clubs including Aston Villa, Derby and Leicester, to name but a few.

When Ian started at the Foundation there were just 3 members of staff and since then, Ian has built up the Foundation to what it is today; a registered charity with over 20 members of staff working within the Bradford and district community.

He employs a pool of experienced, fully qualified full and part-time FA qualified football coaches to staff the various Foundation activities.

The Foundation now offers football and multi-sport coaching provision for primary and pre-school children, holiday camps, penalty shoot outs, traineeships, literacy, numeracy and PHSE programmes, Premier League Primary Stars, the National Citizens Service programme, Football and Education, community projects, and in 2000, developed its own disability football club, satellite disability sessions and education provision, which covers over 150 participants on a regular basis.

The Foundation also runs a range of projects aimed at ‘football-minded’ people, with the aim of encouraging them to become more involved in coaching, participation, inter-generational activities and inclusion projects that target the whole Bradford Community, through the themes of Sports Participation, Health, Education, Social Inclusion and Disability.

The Community Foundation still works with schools, but over the years has extended it's reach into the community working with groups and individuals of all ages, races, backgrounds, beliefs and abilities and is a well-liked organisation in the community.

The Foundation is a self- funded, registered charity (charity number 1122310), and all monies made are fed back into the community.

All our staff have enhanced DBS (formerly CRB) checks and are all FA Level 3 or minimum FA Level 2 and A.O.T.T.S (Adults Other Than Teachers) qualified.

Many of our coaches have also completed the AfPE Level 3 Certificate in supporting the delivery of PE and school sports.  This qualification enables them to provide PE sessions within schools.

"My son loves everything about these camps and really looks forward to going. He's attended a couple of locations and despite not knowing anybody at one of the locations he soon makes friends and the staff all remember him and make him feel welcome!"
