Bradford City FC Community Foundation, alongside Bradford City AFC, have launched a new travel hub for the city of Bradford.
Supported by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, the Greener Bantams Travel Hub will help in making travel around the city, and to and from the University of Bradford Stadium, more accessible, affordable, and sustainable.
Lizzie Saunderson-Trowell, Chief Operating Officer at the Bradford City FC Community Foundation said: “Our vision is a city where walking, cycling and wheeling – including people in wheelchairs, and other modes of travel like scooters and skateboards – are accessible, rewarding and preferred ways to travel. Through community events, education and matchday engagement, we will embed accessible, affordable and sustainable ways of travelling into daily life. Our mission is to create a healthier, greener Bradford for supporters, our beneficiaries and residents of all ages and backgrounds. I’d like to thank Bradford City AFC and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority for their support in helping us establish the Travel Hub, and we look forward to making a wide-scale, long-term impact on what travel means in Bradford.”
The Travel Hub will provide access for members of the Bradford community to:
Travel themed initiatives for City supporters to get involved in, encouraging them to think about how they travel to and from home games.
Local walking groups to promote healthy living, and the benefits of walking.
Working with local schools and colleges to run a series of exciting events and competitions over the next 12 months, encouraging children and young people to take an interest, and offer their thoughts and perspectives on the future of travel in the city.
Adam Keizer, Bradford City AFC’s Sustainability Lead, said: “I'm really excited to see what we will achieve through our new Greener Bantams Travel Hub. It has the potential to make a lasting impact on the way people can travel in our city and help promote walking, cycling and wheeling in Bradford. We will be working with our supporters, local schools, councils and community groups to remove barriers and offer practical travel support, as well as delivering events and competitions designed to inspire others, reduce emissions and improve wellbeing. We want to help build a greener, more connected Bradford and the Greener Bantams Travel Hub can play a big part in achieving that."
Members of the public and the Bantams faithful can get involved in the travel hub in numerous ways, including using the BetterPoints app, participating in upcoming initiatives and events, including brand new walking groups, and reflecting upon their own methods of travel in and around Bradford.

Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, said: "Getting active is great for our health, our pockets and the environment. We’re delighted that our funding will help people travel sustainably across Bradford on match days and beyond. This hub will support our mission to create a better-connected West Yorkshire.”
Those interested in becoming involved in the Greener Bantams Travel Hub, including matchday travel incentives and upcoming events, can complete this expression of interest form, or can get in touch with the Foundation directly via: office@bcfccommunity.co.uk

Bradford City AFC and the Foundation have launched numerous environmental and climate action projects as part of the Greener Bantams initiative. Their efforts have been recognised with the club winning the EFL Sustainability Award at this year’s EFL Awards.
