Bradford City FC Community Foundation is delighted to announce that City star Jamie Walker has been named its PFA Community Champion.

The award recognises Jamie’s commitment, time and effort in supporting the Foundation’s programmes in the past year.

Jamie has attended and contributed to numerous community outreach events. In February, Jamie gave his time to hand out hot meals at the Foundation’s food truck, in collaboration with Penny Appeal, following a City home game.

Jamie also visited St Columba’s Catholic Primary School for World Book Day, reading to classes of pupils, taking part in a Q&A and also leading a kickabout!

Ian Ormondroyd, the Foundation’s CEO, presented Jamie with his award. Ian said: “At the Foundation we use sport and the power of the City badge to change lives. Having Jamie join us on our programmes, which help, inspire and unite the people of the City, goes a step further. Having a recognisable footballing star, and hero to many in the city, involved and doing his bit has a massive impact on the things we do. I am delighted to present him with this award, and would like to personally thank him for his contributions to our cause.”

Jamie has also contributed to the Foundation’s media output, acting as an ambassador for the Club and adding his profile and connection with the people of the City to an upcoming campaign the Foundation is running in conjunction with Bradford Metropolitan District Council.

Jamie said: “I’m made up to have received the PFA Community Champion award. I want to do my bit to support our Foundation and all the great work they can do. It’s been a busy few months, and I was surprised and delighted to have been recognised with this award. A big thank you to the Foundation for picking me to receive it.”

All at the Foundation would like to extend their thanks to Jamie, and we look forward to working with him and benefitting from his enthusiasm, engagement and expertise going forward.
